B&G Club still going strong

To the Editor:

Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah's members, Staff and Board of Directors are deeply sorry to hear about Big Brothers, Big Sisters closing their doors at the end of this year. We have had the opportunity over these past years to work with staff of Big Brothers, Big Sisters and have considered it a great privilege. The opportunities they have been able to offer youth will surely be missed. As a smaller non-profit youth development organization ourselves, we know too well the challenges of raising operational costs and relying on community donations and grants to keep functioning for the betterment of youth in Ukiah year after year.

We find our name, Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah, is often confused with that of Big Brothers, Big Sisters. We wanted to reassure the community that Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah's doors are and will remain open. Our after school program continues to provide a safe place for our members to come, play, study, and just hang out every Monday through Friday after school until 6:30 pm. BGCU's belief is as long as our building can accommodate it, we will work for funding to increase our ability to serve the families in the Ukiah Valley. So, we have room for your child.

Our deepest regards go out to everyone who has worked so hard over these past many years creating the wonderful program in Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Thank you for all the work you have done in our beautiful community.

via email to ssanchez@ukiahbgc.org, or the address provided

for donations. We need your support to continue to provide

your children with a safe environment.

We welcome members from all over our community.

Ages 5 through 18 years.

At the present time transportation is offered after-school

from most UUSD schools within Ukiah city limits. See Trasportation tab for details.

Each child must be a member of the Club to have access to the

Club after school or on school breaks.

To become a Club Member please fill out registration forms by clicking the link below.

Once it's filled out, bring it to the Club along with your $30 membership fee.

Membership Application

Since 1994 Boys & Girls Club of Ukiah has been providing the youth in our community with a

safe, fun and supervised environment to come and participate in positive daily activities each

day after school and most holidays. Every day, Boys & Girls Club of Ukiah strives to improve

each child's life by implementing self-esteem, courage, and positive values through our

many educational programs. Our youth come to the Boys & Girls Club to receive tutoring,

computer training, homework help, and mentoring. By attending our programs, our youth

gain confidence and develop a sense of usefulness and belonging. Our Club staff is

dedicated, through our 'Youth Development Strategy', to our mission of inspiring and

enabling all youth to reach their full potential and to become caring and responsible adults.

We believe our Club is 'The Positive Place for Kids'. If you are looking for an exciting
