Kay became a full Board member in July 2016 after serving as an ad hoc legal advisor to the Club. "There is no single reason why I volunteer for the Club but more like about 480 reasons, which is our current membership count plus our hard-working staff." Kay is originally from Covelo and graduated from Ukiah High School a few decades back. After attending Santa Clara University, she spent over 17 years in Washington, D.C., working through law school at Columbus School of Law and practicing in civil and criminal matters until returning home to California in 2008. She currently splits her time between Santa Rosa and Covelo (with many stops in Ukiah for Club and family events).
