Spring is here! Kohl's Cares helped put our annual garden in.
Crush Mentoring Program
Boys & Girls Club partnership with Crush Italian Restaurant has become a valuable tool and wonderful success for educating youth in our community. The mentorship program has taken place weekly for the past 10 weeks, with a celebratory dinner and awards presentation to the two participants on Tuesday, the final night. This session consisted of two exceptional young men who worked their way through each section of the restaurant, receiving much education and knowledge from a variety of Crush staff under the direction of the general manager. Club youth have been supported with their discovery into the job market at Crush, a 4 Star restaurant. Over the past 4 years Crush staff have trained many young people giving them skills they will take with them into whatever they choose to do in the job market.
“I have enjoyed watching these young men grow in knowledge and confidence these past ten weeks. From being fearful their first day on the job, to confidently serving their family, friends and BGCU board members a wonderful 3 course dinner” says Liz Elmore, Executive Director Boys & Girls Club of Ukiah. In addition to the supportive staff and trainings Crush provides Club youth, there is also a special dining menu guests are able to choose from with a portion of the cost going back to the Club to assist with daily operations of the Club.
