"My daughter worked at the Club for several years. She really loved working with the kids and was very impressed with the programs the Boys & Girls Club has and the effect they had on the kids. One day, she told me about a member who faithfully came every single day. She asked him why he came and he said "Because this is the only place where anyone really cares about me." It wasn't too long after this, that the Club had to close due to lack of funds. When UVMC staff heard about this, we came together as a group and raised over $18,000 to help get the Club open again. During the fund raising drive, the opportunity came up for me to join the Board and I was happy to be invited to come on board. At a time when we see almost daily cuts in programs that support kids, I am proud to be part of a group working to provide education, emotional support and FUN for our local kids. I believe that every child has the capability of becoming a success in life and I appreciate having the chance to be part of their success."
